Post Dont understand how to make the calc work
on: January 22, 2012, 02:07

I've posted the calculator on a page in a mobile-optimized theme here:

http://m.triplefmarketing.com/payment-calculator/

But it just doesn't seem to work.

I can type in a number for Price Of Car but if I try to type anything into any other field all I get is "You must enter a valid number."

I've tried this in Firefox on a Macintosh, Chrome on a PC and Android phone browser. All behave identically.

Also, I don't understand why there is no field available to type-in the interest rate.

One last thing: any hope of getting a 72 month button? More and more people are going that way.

Thanks, Frank

I'll add a 72 month button. Regarding your error, did you try placing the calculator inside a normal WordPress page? It's not supposed to work like this. Try the default theme.

By interest rate, do you mean the option in the back end? There is an option there.

Hi. Nice plugin. Willing to donate if i can get it to work. I installed it on my page but when i fill in the values and hit calculate nothing happens.. I dont know what i did wrong, seems to be a pretty down-to-earth-easy-to-install-plugin to me.

You need to provide a link, I'm sure it's a Javascript issue. If I can see the error, I could fix it.

yes, that would be nice. i have this plugin on the latest version of wordpress, forgot to mention that. Anyways i will have my site live by noon today. I have other Javascripts running on the back end so i dont know if this might be the issue. Also, im not sure what could go wrong when i followed the installation instructions exactly as they were described.

Great. Post the link here when you're ready, and I'll sort out the error and post an update.

ok here it is. http://sean.tekwebdesign.net/finance/ this is only a testing site but the problem is the same, "calculate" is not doing anything.

OK, got it. The name of your plugin directory should be "finance-calculator-with-application-form". Please check and rename it like this. I would appreciate if you sent me credentials to see for myself inside your WordPress admin. It's either the WordPress plugin repository that repacked it with a different name, or your WordPress is misbehaving. Here is my address: http://getbutterfly.com/contact/

Is your plugin multisite compatible?

So, first:

1. What was the original name? The one you downloaded the plugin with? So I can isolate the issue.
2. It should work with SSL, it's just a path, nothing more.
3. No need for donation, thanks, just a rating on WordPress plugin repository.
4. The plugin is NOT multisite compatible, but it can be done. I found the solution here - http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/31426/where-should-i-store-global-data-for-my-multi-site-wordpress-plugin - and I'll implement it as soon as possible.

I downloaded your plugin directly from wordpress the day before I contacted you but i dont remember the name i downloaded under and now i changed it like you told me to do, im sorry. Definitely I will rate your plugin 5starts. Im working on this car dealership website and I've been asked to export every car in the inventory for re post to other websites such as Craigslist, and Cars.com. Any ideas about how i can accomplish this task? here is my email just in case g_chris821@yahoo.com

I'll try to reproduce the plugin issue myself, by downloading it. Thanks.

Regarding the car export, are you doing the site on WordPress? If yes, are the cars entered as posts/pages? I'm sure you need some kind of XML feed file. Also, they (Craigslist, Cars.com) should have an example file for that.

yes, im doing the site on wordpress and they upload the car's info as a post. The example craigslist has to do bulk upload is written in Perl and i dont know it. Any solution ideas, suggestions?

As far as I know, not Craigslist related, is that when you bulk post, you need to provide a feed with various variables (make, model, year, engine, and so on). They also need to be structured as RSS or XML, or a PHP script. Try and search online, maybe there are others that had the same problem.

I'm not familiar with Perl myself, but here's what I found:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3633830/craigslist-automated-posting-api

Read this at the bottom: "Keep in mind, the API is closed for new accounts as of now. I'm not sure when they are planning on opening it again, if ever."

Is there a way to allow users to enter the finance rate?

Of course, in the plugin's options panel. Settings | WPFC.
