If you sense it isn’t going your way there ought to be alternatives, and instead of ever letting them say do it our way or the highway, you say, “Look, there are a myriad ways to solve this issue. It’s not right or wrong, that isn’t what this design is about. There isn’t a best way. There are many good ways to do this. Let me come back to you and show you alternative ways.” Therefore, there’s no compromise because you have beaten them at a game that they really want to hear the alternatives. Yes, if they are going to stomp their feet and say, “No, this is the way we want it” let them go. You’ve got to know to say no.
