Hound is a lite, flat-file, PHP-based content management system.

Hound is simpler, smaller, and more convenient.

It is supposed to replace WordPress for some of our clients, who only need brochure sites with no database functionality or multi-user capabilities.

Hound is hosted on GitHub – https://github.com/wolffe/hound – and is currently in development. We are using it for 4 clients so far, with no complaints, 100% productivity and 200% speed increase (compared to their previous WordPress-based installations).

Hound requires only PHP. We have a long list of TODO items, as the main purpose of Hound is to be small and fast.

Updating Hound

Manual Updating

When manually updating your Hound site, just replace (and overwrite) all files except for site-specific content (see below).

Do not remove or replace the following files and folders:

/files/
/site/
/site/config.php
.htaccess
config.php

Automatic Updating

When automatically updating your Hound site, make sure you have a backup of your /files/ and /site/ folders.
